Team Fortress 2 "Meet Your Match" Update Adds Competitive Match Making And Ranked Features
Things might get very serious soon in Team Fortress 2 -- okay, about as serious as TF2 can get anyway. A recent announcement from developer Valve revealed that the company is now adding competitive mode features standard to a lot of games these days, to the free-to-play team shooter.
The new update, titled "Meet Your Match," introduces three new features designed to bring more competitive play to the game.
The first addition is matchmaking. Players' teams will be matched against players of a similar skill level, giving them time to learn the ropes and improve.
Next is the competitive mode itself. This is a ranked 6v6 game featuring all nine of the game's existing classes. As players rank up they will earn up to 18 different titles and badges. They will also be able to track their progress in game.
Finally, there is the casual mode. With this, quickplay is being modified to match players into 12v12 games with players of equal skill. Matches will be played from beginning to end and there will be a winning and a losing team.
Full details on the new update and the competitive mode additions can be found on the TF2 site.
