The Finals Kicks Off Its Eighth Season With New Features, Weapons, And More
Instant replay, improved impact damage, and match recap all enhance the game.
A new Season has kicked off in The Finals, and with it, Embark Studios introduces some new features to the free-to-play shooter. One feature, still technically in beta, is Instant Replay. It’s pretty much what it sounds like, offering players a way to review their elimination moments and see where they went wrong. As noted, this feature is still being tested, and it isn’t automatically enabled. In fact, the update notes indicate that it’s probably best to keep it off if you have less than 16 gigs of RAM in your machine.
Keeping with the idea of being able to review what happened, a new match summary screen is introduced for a few modes. Specifically, these are World Tour, Ranked, and QuickCash. More modes will boast the feature in the future.
For those of you who like seeing things go boom, the devs have introduced Smooth Destruction. This is intended to improve the damage caused by collapsing structures. Effectively, cascading damage is being ramped up, beginning with suspended structures. The team has provided information on how this will work and how it will impact various arenas in the game in the update announcement on the Steam page.
