Throne And Liberty Western Launch Delayed, Partly Due To Changes Made To Disappointing Combat System
It needs a bit of work.
The wait for the Western launch of Throne and Liberty has gotten a bit longer. During a recent earnings call – reported by WCCFTech – NCSoft revealed that they would be delaying the launch of the MMORPG in the West in order to work on the game’s combat system. As it turns out, the game’s reception wasn’t quite as good as they hoped, due to the disappointing combat.
The issue is that the game, which was originally presented as having dynamic combat affected by things like time of day and the weather, turned out to use the tab-target system seen in MMOs like World of Warcraft rather than more-recently-made counterparts. It seems the negative reception of this system has resulted in NCSoft deciding to hold back on launching the game in order to address this. They’ve already been working on it, as, according to the South Korean site Inven, “the response speed has been improved to enable dynamic combat, as well as attacks by moving”.
What this could mean for the "auto-combat" tool is unknown right now, if anything.
