World Of Warcraft's 20th Anniversary Event Patch Gets A Release Date And It Is VERY Soon
Ever had an event become a full patch of its own? You're about to.
Full disclosure here. I've really been enjoying World of Warcraft's The War Within expansion. I liked the story, the raid is interesting, the additional features extended to leveling and gearing up alts is fantastic, and I've let my "resub for the expansion" roll over for a second month for the first time in I don't know how many expansions.
Then the team announced that patch 11.0.5 would be a full patch dedicated to the MMORPG's 20th anniversary and when I saw the features revealed in their video last month (which I posted below again for you), I was pretty stoked.
Today, Blizzard has announced the release date for the celebration. The update will drop on October 22nd and will run until January 6th. Yeah, literally two weeks away, and I can't wait.
During the celebration, players will be gathering new "Bronze Celebration Tokens" that can be spent on a wide variety of new rewards. The best reward, in my opinion, would be the return of updated Tier 2 armor sets. These sets have even been expanded for classes that didn't exist back in the Tier 2 era. They look amazing. I currently main a druid tank so here's a look at the druid gear, along with the warrior (left) and priest (right). All sets are showcased in the full announcement post.
As for content, since this is a full patch and not just an event update, there is a ton of content to hit up. We've got a revamped Blackrock Depths raid for groups of 10-15 players. The raid also comes in raid finder, normal, and heroic versions. More PvE comes in the way of Timewalking some old dungeons. As long as you're level 10 or higher you can check out the Deadmines, Zul’Farrak, Dire Maul (east and west wings), and Stratholme’s living and undead dungeons.
Looking for more? No problem. Hit up the Caverns of Time and Tanaris for new world bosses, adventures with Chromie, and a menagerie of role-playing events out in the waiting sands. Some of these additional challenges, like some of the Guest Relations content, will drop on November 4th. This is kind of like a sequel to the past "Secrets of Azeroth" event.
Get prepped now, it'll be quite the blast. If you're Dracthyr, you'll even get some new classes to play and a new "Visage" to play as if you don't like walking around like a big lizard. That says nothing of druid ascendance forms. Check out the post for previews.
