WoW Classic Game Producer Addresses Player Concern Over Server Balance, No Action Yet Planned
Asks for continued community input to find a solution.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
World of Warcraft Classic players who are unhappy with the current state of server balance and wondering what the devs are intending to do about it may want to take a peek at the WoW Community Council section of the Blizzard forums. It seems players are taking advantage of Blizzard’s initiative to get them more involved with finding solutions to problems and have brought up their concerns regarding the server issue, prompting a response from the WoW Classic Game Producer, Aggrend. Although, the response isn’t an answer as to what will be done. Rather, it addresses what has been considered, and in most of the cases, why those things – even some suggested by players – may not work as well as we’d imagine.
According to the post, it really comes down to finding a way to make some people happy while not upsetting others. For example, you may not enjoy being on a server that has a 90% - 10% faction split, but many others may have joined the server just for that reason. Yeah, it makes actual PvP crap, but lots of people don’t actually care about that. Merging two servers with fairly equal, but reverse, splits might re-balance things – for now – but it wouldn’t just balance PvP. It would also mess with the server economy, force players to have to change their names, and have any other potentially negative effects.
That means that rather than just forging ahead with whatever answer that pops up, the devs are casting about for other solutions. In the spirit of that, they’ve even asked the Community Council members to put forth ideas, and since this is a rather large topic, they’re also looking to host a live chat session with them in the near future.
