Neverness To Everness’ First Update Brings A Lot To The Table
New places, new people, that new Porsche you’ve been waiting for, fixes and more.

Earlier today, Hotta Studio hosted a Special Program outlining what players can expect from the Version 1.1 update of NNeverness to Everness. This is the free-to-play supernatural action RPG’s first content update. So, in addition to continuing the Scarlet Letter storyline we left off on, introducing a new area, and giving players new characters to roll on, it also introduces several changes made in response to player feedback.
The stream didn’t go into much detail on what will happen story-wise. We know that players will be traveling outside of Hethereau to a place called Sunward Island, and that there will be a new location anomaly, the Corridor of Echoes. The boss in this area appears to be a statue of a woman.
We also know that the two new characters – our friend Lacrimosa from ETD-4 and recent acquaintance Chaos of ETD-6 will each have their own storylines as well. Lacrimosa, our favorite tomato vampire, has a Chaos esper-ability attribute and will need to be armed with a Liquid Arc. As we’ve seen, she summons objects out of thin air during battle. She’s also capable of copying the enemies she’s fighting and using their own techniques against them. It’s worth noting that some of these abilities are only available after completing the Spinoff Quests.
Chaos, whom we met during the most recent mission, has a Lakshana esper-ability attribute and uses a Condensate Arc. If you remember that hound that appeared at the end of the story and opened the portal, you’ve seen his ability in action. That’s to summon a thick fog and give it shape. The hound is typically the shape. Interestingly, his ability to summon fog depends on the weight of the karma of those around him. The heavier the karma, the thicker the fog.
The hound is useful in and out of battle, as Chaos can leave it behind on the map. This effectively leaves a waypoint that players can teleport back to when needed.
Both characters have additional outfits that players can pick up and can be moved into an apartment when the correct bond level is reached. Although a note was made that you can not move male and female characters into the same apartment. New City Hangout stories are available for each character as well.
As for when players can roll on these characters, Lacrimosa and her related Arc will be available once the update drops on June 3. Players have three weeks to roll for her, ending on June 24 when Chaos becomes available. His run will last until July 8.
As we mentioned, the update brings a lot of new content and other changes to the game. First off, the Bagel chat app is getting an upgrade and entering testing. Players will be able to share things and earn “Praise Jam” by posting and hitting engagement goals. The Praise Jam is used to purchase in-game items from the Bagel shop. Like several things in NTE, this is a bit of a social feature. However, the content feed is randomized, so there are no forced social interactions.
If you haven’t been to the Hethereau Detention Facility yet, you’ll probably be wanting to go once the update hits. A new gang has taken over the facility and keeps abusing inmates that are weaker than they are. Apparently, it’s our job to do something about it, and we’ll have to take on their leader, “Tornado”. The only thing is, we have to do it without using our Esper abilities. That means walking up to a big dude and punching him in the face… as many times as it takes. Completing the fight and bringing Tornado down will open a new Fight Club activity. It will be available as a solo activity or via matchmaking. The matchmaking mode supports up to four players.
A new racing activity is being introduced as well. The Underground Circuit mode is described as a “no-holds-barred bumper brawl”. It’s designed for six players, but does not allow them to bring their own vehicles. Instead, when the race starts, six vehicles will appear on the track, and players will have to claim the one they want before someone else does. Although, you can elect to team up with someone in the same car.
The cars come with weapons. Every car is armed the same way starting out, and new weapons can be obtained by driving through crates left on the track. Players can shoot obstacles and other vehicles. Once a vehicle is damaged enough, it will blow up, taking those inside with it and removing them from the race. Other players can also be eliminated by fighting them directly in combat. That will require you to eliminate all four of their characters, however.
On the improvement front, quite a few changes have been made. These include things players have been asking for, such as improvements to cutscene dialog. Going forward, a text summary will be provided when players skip cutscenes so they don’t miss important information. Also, clicking through the dialog will be faster.
This next one amused me, probably because I’m not put off by Taygedo in the same way others are. But there’s good news for those people. If Taygedo really annoys you, you can mute him in cutscenes now.
The Porsche collab will be going live when the update launches. If you’re wondering how to get the car and related outfits, you’ll have to roll for them. They’re on a different board than the characters. In addition, players will be able to use Fons to do rolls. Hopefully, you have enough saved up.
On an additional note, NTE will be coming to Steam, EGS, and the Galaxy Store, and pre-registration is open. It will also apparently be available on GeForce NOW at some point.
As always, don’t forget to use the stream codes to get in-game goodies. These are: DREAMWALK0603, TOMATO100, and RACENOLIMIT.
