  1. I would really love to give this game a chance, it looks like it has potential, But the astronomical amounts of bloom in this game just, gives me the worst of head-aches, Bloom is the worst thing in graphics and gaming in my opinion anyways.

  2. Fact is, in my opinion, it should be like that (and in this type of games there are always places where u can safely afk)… BUT ! There is a but…a game with permadeath should not be so farming intensive as a Korean game or a standard mmorpg. In a permadeath game levelling to a good point and getting decent gear should be way easier imo. Afterwards, from that “average-level-standard-gear” position which, I repeat, should be easy to achieve, onwards, it should become harder. So the result would be an average/good population of players with decent power, and then only those who can survive longer are rewarded with epic-tier gear and skills. Unfortunately this game isn’t done in this way at all…

    • Let me ask you then… What is the point of having another WoW like rpg. Because as i recall when i played WoW years back it was really easy to get gear and what ever. Perma death is another way for the developers to tell the players to care for their characters and not go Leeroy Jenkins all the time – to accually strategise your play style by THINKING logically and using the full potential of the game mechanics…..

      • You totally didn’t get what I mean, I never said “make it like WoW”. I said, in a permadeath game, you should be able to gear up to a decent level easily…simply because you can permadie any second ! But, if you manage to survive and play through the hardest parts of the games, were death is more likely, you should be able to get to the high-end epic tier powers and equipments. Fact is, this game has a twisted type of permadeath implemented…clearly made so people reaching high levels will be so afraid to lose their character that will buy from the cash shop items to increase the chance of not-losing the character…and that’s it.

        • And i still don’t get the point of making an easy game. Personally i get bored by easy games and quit playing them really really fast.
          I don’t know about the cash shop but i think you can increase the chance of reincarnation with the soul material you gather through time (i think…?)

          • No problem ! But you misunderstand me again…getting an easy start, in the sense that it will be more-or-less easy, but I would prefer to say fast, to reach a point were you can be of use doesn’t mean the game in itself is easy. Every mmorpg can be thought as easy because in every mmorpg you can create your character and gain levels without needing to write a scientific guide on it…the HARD part is to become strong, stronger than the others and get what the others don’t have. Essentially this is what I’m saying, since you’ll most probably lose a few characters by permadying before you become a real expert, it shouldn’t be extremely hard or long to get to a decent standpoint otherwise you’ll get frustrated and bored and you’ll most probably decide to quit…it should be hard, and it will be due to the threats you will face, to get to the high-end of the ladder.

    • I thought i heard there was like retaining a few skills and items(in a shared storage or something) in the game after permadeath or is that a lie??

  4. I played this game until about Soul Rank 3 and level 11~ on two different characters and then I stopped.
    What made me start playing this game is the appeal it has, or actually thought it had…of a seemingly realistic mmorpg world, were you could be a real criminal, but were you also got real penalties for both dying or being captured by the guards making everything much more exciting….sadly, many things disappointed me.

    First off, levelling is very slow, while in itself it’s not a problem, in a permadeath game it should be a problem…but as someone else said before me it’s not real permadeath. In fact, when you die you actually get the chance to reincarnate. At the beginning the chance is 100% and it lowers (pretty slowly) as you gain levels. Even of you are unlucky once and fail…you actually have to fail twice in a row the actually lose your character…while this, to me, it’s already enough to ruin the feel of a permadeath game, there is actually more to it. In fact, during the game (and in the future, from the cash shop) you can gain some items which you can use during the reincarnation process to raise the chance of reincarnating…therefore making the threat of permadeath very distant and more of a really unlucky event that MIGHT happen…destroying all your hopes and catching you off-guard when it actually happens. This is not how permadeath should be, permadeath is not meant to be frustrating, is meant to add more meaning to what you do, to make you more careful and thoughtful in dungeons and during your travels because if you die, you’re done for ! It is an element that should make the game more enjoyable (for the ones who likes that risk feel), not more frustrating…

    This although is not all, there is also more I don’t like of this game…which eventually led me to stop playing it, the combat system and the skill build. The combat system, while it might seem ok/cool at first, it’s very flawed, unbalanced and stiff. For example, while on a warrior (with any sort of weapon) you have attack skills, it is almost always pointless to use them as they are much slower than your normal left-click attack, have little effect and if you get hit while channeling a skill you get interrupted; every attack you receive mini-stun you…I once died in the city (seems like guards near the auction aren’t needed much….) because I got attacked by a player who had fast attack speed (actually an attack speed you can easily reach using cestus) but ultra-low damage because it actually stun-locked me in a spot by auto-attacking, I couldn’t even dash, jump or move away by simply running…and if you don’t have a shield you can’t even block (actually it wouldn’t have been useful because blocking takes too much time…).
    About the skill build, as I said previously, attack skills are pretty much pointless to use 90% of the time…the skill build doesn’t tell you precisely what they do, if they have a casting time, how long it is, how much damage it they do, there are just vague descriptions of the skills which make you feel like ( at least I feel like that… ) that you’re doing something wrong in your build 99% of the time…saddest thing I found is that, as expected, the most effective build is going stat boosting/defense boosting skills, heal, and just spam auto-attacks in combat…clearly ruining all the fun of having a differentiated combat style.

    Ups, wall of text…well, hope it gives some useful information.
    tl;dr: The game disappointed me.

    • Have you ever tried to time your attacks in any game? You can easily time the attacks of your foe and block it so you don’t recieve damage (if you have a shield that is). If you don’t have a shield you can run around the target pretty easily to avoid his hits and bang him with your 2h wearpon/weapon… As i continue to read the comments about this game i get the impression that you people are really, really bad at strategy games. Just spamming auto attacks isn’t going to get you anywhere because they can be intercepted by the enemys’ attack too.

      And to be fair in most good games and good MMORPGs the best builds are achieved with stat boosting and passive skills.

      How can you say skills do pointless damage when i deal 40 damage per hit and 800 with my skill.

      Clearly most of the people that tried to play this game like you don’t have a full picture of the capabilities of the characters. Skills get interupted – you can dodge and then cast it. If you don’t want to dodge get a shield and block their attacks and then cast the it! Another thing… Don’t build your character for PURE damage because you will really have a hard time – priests have heal, thieves have potion conjuring, warriors have self-heal. Level it up atleast once so you don’t have to go back to drink every 20 minutes. Build on survivability, not rambo-style.

      If you do that i guarantee you will have a better experience. If you don’t you are clearly doing something wrong.

      That’s the best advice i can give you right now, but people that don’t even try to build up a strategy to optimize their characters are just, sorry for saying this, STUPID or LAZY as hell!!!!

      • Sorry about that, I talked from a warrior’s point of view, I can tell you are clearly using a thief or a mage considering your skills damage…that’s totally my bad .
        My autoattacks deal 200 damage, my skills 300, during the skill casting time I can get 2 some times even 3 autoattack (200×2 = 400), with almost no risk of getting interrupted, you get what I mean? You can time your blocks against 1 enemy, and already when they become 2 it is almost pointless to try and block everything since you will have to stay almost all the time with your shield up because you have to raise it so much before to actually block the attack…and…it is much a better choice to just spam your attacks so they can’t attack back most of the time.
        About the defensive build – don’t build him rambo – thing…it’s exactly what I said, play a warrior which uses 2 handed weapons, build him defensive, and you just go around left-clicking taking almost no damage and then healing yourself…sorry but I don’t find this funny….and you have no idea how this is wrong in a PVP point of view…you can get killed by others just because of how stiff the and glitchy getting chain-ministunned is…and I didn’t even mention how sad it is to try and chase someone because you will never be able to actually aim and hit if you are melee. This game has good elements, problem is, they are not correctly developed imo. If you think otherwise, I’m happy you enjoy the game, sadly for me, I don’t find it enjoyable for how it’s done.

        • You can aim… The character swings infront of himself and if you don’t lock to your target it would be easy to aim and hit if you are fast enough to catch up with the one you are chasing. About one thing i agree, the combat could use some work on it.
          And again 😀 Think before you attack! I use traps to ensure that while im fighting 1 mob something doesnt attack me without getting damaged and so i gain an advantage even when im outnumbered.
          If you don’t like using skills that channel then don’t level them. I played a warrior and the skills i got didn’t casting time aaand it all worked out quite nicely. Another thing you can do is dodge (jump to the back or to the sides which is done with spece and the key for the direction you want to dodge, i’m sure you know).
          And, yes, you are right, i mainly play with a thief. Backstab ability for damage, stealth ability which i use mainly for escaping when (if) i get beaten badly, traps (which i dont level at all, just extra damage) and conjuring potions (really handy when you are out of ways to regen or the fountain is far back).
          It’s not quite true, the thing about the defensive build for warrior, get a mage and you destroy that maa facka or kite him like hell with a thief (they get increased GP? regen), yea i know thief is a little bitchy, but that’s the way i do it :-D…

          Don’t give up just yet, or should i say check it out again when it comes out 😉 i’m sure it will be better!

          • My problem with timing attacks and all that is I have terrible lag in this game. I just started playing yesterday and had no lag problems until today. I cant time my attacks and then before I know it im just die when a second ago I had full health. The lag is so unbearable and I know its not me. Ive done a speed connection twice and its fine and I dont lag in any other online game. Is it the servers?

    • Big dissapointment to me personally is the combat and the lagginess. The combat is fine to be fair, It’s nothing like Souls games (I actually prefer a more dynamic with depth combat, but this is the minimum I’d play) but what kills it is the lag/delay/choppyness. It seems that parts of the game where there’s alot of stuff is going on, the game just get’s really choppy, making fighting even harder. My rig runs alot of games on max settings, so I don’t know why this is happening.

    • Well, i completely disagree with you. How are thieves supposed to be thieves if they don’t have any skills to use? How mages can be mages without spells? Try to kill the weakest enemy in Wizardry Online without any spell with a mage.

    Before I watch the first look, I must say the Japanese are MUCH better, and more capable then making mmorpg’s then Korea, and that’s not like a big hit on Korea or anything, but Japan has made so few mmorpg’s, but they’ve done it right, actually that’s a lie, Final Fantasy 14 blows, and probably always will, hence they scrapped it two times already… Only to make the same game over, and over.

    Wizardry online from what I’ve played thus far is an excellent game. The game itself is around 4 years old, and the graphics aren’t mind blowing, but the gameplay is solid, and if I could sum it up in a few short words, “It’s like a fully 3D diablo 1 or 2”, the dungeon system, and PvP, something Diablo 3 failed to accomplish.

    Anyways, long story short, Wizardry Online is definitely worth at the very least, a try.

    • I don’t think the game deserves the hate people give her. I’ve been in the beta for 3 weeks now and the game is at the very least a different experience unlike Da WoW… Another thing is that the game is not that easy at the beggining and noobs troll it because they can’t get far.

      • the style of animation and stuff like that is pretty much just Personal Opinion, to me I like it because it reminds me of pandora saga and some of the JRPGs that i love so it doesn’t bother me BUT the Gameplay is Sooooo much Fun, I’m loving this a lot because it reminds me of the great games that a lot of games keep missing out on.
