5 MMO Games to Look Out For in 2026
These five titles should be on the radar for any MMO fan.

2025 is coming to an end, with a new year full of video game releases soon kicking off. Throughout the various titles that are planned to release across the next year, there are a handful of notable, likely free-to-play, MMO games that fans of the genre will want to keep their eye on as they continue to develop. Or for some titles on this list, even release playable demos or full releases to the public.
Whether you’re looking for a distinct stylisation that makes a game stand out, flashy and fun combat, or a fruitful environment full of mysteries to uncover, these five games are bound to offer something fresh and exciting for MMO fans to keep tabs on.
Sea of Remnants

Sea of Remnants brings an ocean adventure MMO to the table, with players taking on the role of a puppetfolk sailor seeking lost memories. Gamers can build their fleet, explore rough seas, develop their bond with over 300 different companions, and defeat strange monsters in battle, among other things!
First of all, this game looks absolutely gorgeous. The type of world that has a distinct art style, yet manages to look absolutely inviting, intriguing, and eye-catching in a way that just begs for exploration. The puppetfolk character stylisation is a great feature too, really making it feel unique from the classic realism or anime style influences that other titles seem to lean into. Of course, players can also expect to have to deal with rival factions and other obstacles in the ever-evolving cityscape of Orbtopia, too.
From crafting gear for your crew to navigating dynamically changing weather across the seas, or even opening up shop, it certainly sounds like there will be plenty of mechanics to keep all kinds of players entertained in Sea of Remnants.
Bellatores

Bellatores is a title that, according to the devs, has been created with the intent to revive core aspects of MMORPG games. The game is set in a seamless world, meaning there will be no loading screens to disrupt the player during exploration. Players are encouraged to freely roam, gather resources for crafting, and team up with friends to enter a battle of five noble houses that strive for power on the throne.
This story direction comes to life in gameplay with players meeting face-to-face around the open world, duking it out on the battlefield in the name of their houses. Combat against others isn’t the only thing to keep players invested, though. In addition to this, you’ll be able to hunt wildlife, develop their skills, and more.
Bellatores devs aim to deliver on ‘photo-realistic landscapes’, detailed character models, and utilise all of the latest technologies to bring the world to life, making it one of the most ambitious projects to watch out for.
Soulframe

The creators of Waframe are creating a brand new adventure in the direction of a fantasy action RPG, titled Soulframe. According to the official Steam page, players will be able to combine the strength of their Pacts, Weapons, and Virtues solo or with friends to take back Midrath and free the Omen Beasts from the Ode. Influenced by medieval times and shamanism, players can expect the world of Soulframe to be full of nature and intertwining magic. Gameplay clips have shown players utilizing these nature-inspired magical abilities to create new pathways during exploration, fight back against enemy creatures, and more.
Furthermore, the magic system mirrors some similar aspects to Warframe, where players can unlock different playstyles, such as stealth-based hunters or a support/utility build. The game looks great so far on the visual side, with the type of deep fantasy medieval world that just blooms into a highly immersive and atmospheric environment for players to discover.
Havenhold

Set for an early 2026 release on January 13, Havenhold is one of the first upcoming MMO games that players can dive into following the new year. Inspired by the ancient Fear East, players will train as a warrior monk and develop their martial skills to navigate a world through conquest and glory. In each season, the story of Havenhold will change, with the decisions made by players shaping the way events develop. Additionally, a constant competitive nature is enforced by the short seasons, which reset every fourteen days. Skills and gear earned will be kept on reset.
In Havenhold, player interaction is key, with huge PVP showdowns taking place. There will also be the implementation of player item trading, base building, and securing traps and defenses. Havenhold also utilizes a really interesting visual style that falls somewhere between the heavily realistic and more anime/toon-inspired approaches, which will surely play a part in making the title memorable to fans of the genre.
Apogea

Apogea is an upcoming medieval fantasy MMO title that stands apart from other options on this list. Most significantly, the stylistic differences are what set it apart. Unlike other MMOs, which aim to utilize the latest graphical developments in the industry, Apogea focuses on a different visual style, bringing an almost ‘older’, nostalgic feeling to the table. It’s a 3D overworld with a more pixelated style that still manages to feel lively and intriguing.
More importantly, though, is the dedication to a positive player experience that the devs are chasing in Apogea. Most significantly, the team behind Apogea has been upfront about not becoming a ‘pay-to-win’ title, ensuring that all players have an equal opportunity to succeed based on their skills and dedication. However, the game will not be short of challenges for those looking for that grind. As the developers state: “We also like challenges. Here, triumphs are earned, not handed out. The journey is tough, and the stakes are high. If you're looking for a game that doesn't hold your hand, this is it." Players can look forward to different class options, a diverse skill tree system, and plenty of different biomes and locations full of NPCs and quests to discover.
