Aion 2 November Launch

For folks hoping to hear more about Aion 2, today is a good day. Although, it may not be the best. That depends on where you live. But if you’re an Aion fan waiting on the free-to-play MMORPG in South Korea or Taiwan, it’s an excellent day. Earlier this morning, NCSoft announced that the game will be launching in both countries on November 18.

News of the launch date came as part of a larger dev stream in which the team answered player questions and provided more details about the game. The stream provided important facts about things like instant dungeon teleportation, which will prevent players from having to gather at dungeon entrances, how combat on mobile will work, PvP zones, and more. If you’re wondering about the mobile combat, they stated that there won’t be any full auto-combat, but there will be assistance features for mobile players.

Perhaps the most disappointing change for me is that they’ve made the Elyos and Asmodians more alike. The summary on Reddit notes that there are still some things different about them, but that they are “not exaggerated”. As an Asmo player in the original game, I’m not sure I’m happy about that.

The devs also answered questions about monetization. According to the post, it’s free-to-play with an optional sub and battle pass. Cash shop is pretty much what you’d expect: outfits, weapon skins, wings, etc. Players can either earn or buy pets. And, to round things out, a trading post offers consumable items and limited bags.
