Aion Addresses Low Player Base But Fails To Mention Plans To Fix The Issue
Aion may need to drop the ‘massively’ in mmorpg.
There is nothing wrong with a small player base, but if the game is built on a foundation that relies on the players, then this becomes a different story. In Aion’s Letter From The Producers, the post is littered with statements of 'player feedback,' however, nothing was specifically addressed on how they are working on player feedback. It is one thing to read the complaints of a player, but a whole different story to actually act on their concerns in an attempt to do something about it.
The letter says that: “We will continue to listen to our players' feedback, and we will use it to hopefully make many future changes that players will enjoy.” Still, with no specific roadmap mentioned, or a more in-depth plan shared with the players, it feels a bit disingenuous. Again, there is said to be a massive amount of new content awaiting players in Aion Classic 2.0: Stormwing’s Defiance, but nothing outlined specifically besides the basic server consolidations and economy adjustments.
It does seem like the company is honestly trying to listen to the feedback of their player base, but maybe the company will need to do more if that is not enough. Addressing the issue is usually only the first step, actually fixing the game is next.
