Apex Legends Kicks Off Test For Matchmaking Update
The goal is to improve skill distribution in Ranked matches.
Today, at 11 am Pacific time, Respawn launched a matchmaking test in Apex Legends. This test, intended to improve skill distribution in the F2P team shooter's Ranked matches, restricts Masters and Predators to Diamond 1 and above.
It seems that this particular change has been requested by players, and is in fact “one of the most commonly requested changes to Ranked”. As a result, the devs are running this test on all regions and platforms at the same time, while keeping an eye on player feedback. Of course, changes like these can have results that players aren’t as fond of, and as is noted in the announcement on Steam, this particular change may result in longer queues for higher rank Ranked matches. If that happens, the test could end earlier than originally scheduled.
If the test works out, it should make things a bit more interesting and exciting for players, and perhaps encourage more players to take part in Ranked matches.
