Transformers fans had a pretty good December back in 2022. A new movie was inbound and then Splash Damage, developer of Batman: Arkham Origins, revealed a trailer (below) for the co-op game Transformers: Reactivate at that year's Game Awards. One to four players would team up and blast their way through a new story in the franchise while coming across fan-favorite characters.

January 2025 sees a very different mood now.

Splash Damage announced via their X account that Reactivate is being cancelled. “This decision did not come lightly, and it is a difficult time for the studio and our people. We want to take a moment to thank the team who worked on Transformers for their dedication and passion," reads the post in part.

Sadly, yes, this will likely result in layoffs at the company. While exact numbers haven't been revealed, the announcement does already mention jobs could be "potentially" at risk of reduction. Yeah, they wouldn't say that at all if there was even a remote chance they would be keeping their entire staff.

Splash Damage also took time out in the post to thank Hasbro and express a desire to work with the toy company in the future.

That really just leaves Splash Damage with the team working on "Project Astrid," which is a sci-fi project based on a new, original IP. If the company has any other projects in the works, we have yet to hear about them.

We hope any impacted employees find work quickly.
