Genfanad Players Will See "Higher Level Systems" For Exploration And Be Able To Join CLicHe For Rewards In 2023
Reworks, improvements, and expansions are planned for the year, too.
When Genfanad launched last September, Rose-Tinted Games got a mixed bag of feedback from players: One side enjoyed the humourous tone/retro vibe of the game, yet the other felt discouraged by grindy mechanics alongside the absence of a solid core gameplay loop.
In 2023, the devs aim to improve the game by adding "higher level systems" for exploration, letting players join the wacky CLicHe corporation to compete for rewards, and more to spice up the player experience. With a focus on making the game "significantly more fun to play," the devs shared their vision for 2023 in a behind-the-scenes blog post.
Exploration has always been one of the primary rewarding goals for Genfanad, so Rose-Tinted has been concocting some ideas to enhance its tight integration into the gameplay. These mechanics, where players can encounter rare spawns that drop a new rare currency used to gain various in-game rewards and bonus-giving gathering nodes that multiple players can harvest, are examples the devs have in mind.
The corporate departments of CLicHe will be opening their doors to adventurers in the future. Various NPCs will represent a specific department that players can join and eventually compete against each other on a seasonal basis for rewards.
Depending on a player's actions in their chosen department, such as collecting resources or cleaning up monsters, they will get rewarded. A neat part of this is that players can also climb the corporate ladder, which grows as players progress in the game and unlocks exclusive quests, better rewards, access to unique shops, and more.
Closing out the blog, Rose-Tinted talked a bit about balancing for combat. They are addressing diminishing returns on the Strength skill with combat formula changes, Ranged skill combat will deal more damage thanks to the mechanical change to inventory, and multiple revamps to the card and spell system are in the works. Moreover, Rose-Tinted will be taking a pass over all currently-released quests to make sure each reward feels interesting and relevant.
