KOG Games has made the unfortunate announcement that Grand Chase, the free to play, side scrolling fantasy game, will be shutting down in North America today.

"Grand Chase had a tremendous impact and paved the way for so many MMOs that it is simply time to say goodbye and allow players to embrace these new experiences," said Eugene Kim CEO of KOG Games. While it's the end of Grand Chase, it's only the beginning of what we at KOG Games have in store for our community."

Members of the Grand Chase team will be sharing their memories with players in a "Farewell Blog" on the game's site and have posted numerous messages of thanks to Grand Chase players around the world. If you are interested in checking out Elsword, another KOG Games title, you can take advantage of a free boosted character if you have a max level character in Grand Chase.

This article is a bit late considering how Grand Chase was set to be closed globally in like December.

Translation: "Seriously, we only picked this game up so we could point you to play Elsword, a fun game made to be Grand Chase's evolution... that's locked behind stamina/fatigue meters because we're too lazy to constantly put out content that doesn't involve Icebreakers/the Cash Shop. Hope you enjoy grinding for about 2 hours a day before our fatigue system kicks your ass back out of leveling".

I say that because that was my experience leveling up in Elsword. I had fun, but the stamina system just made it the worst to play. I'd just be getting into it, then after an hour, punt. Right back out. I'm going to miss Grand Chase, but turning the game off without even a week heads up of warning is just frelling scummy.

grand chase was boring as hell had to grind for ages just to get a freaking male character.

The developer has give up doing anything for grand chase so now the playerbase for grand chase are going to be transfer to elsword which that game has a fatigue Stamina system for dungeon. I hardly think people are going to want to play that since it will limit them to down the grind plus it very grindy at high level.
