Grinding Gear Games Co-Founder Chris Wilson Has A Shiny New Studio
It seems he’s been busy since leaving the Path of Exile studio in 2023.
If you’ve been wondering what Chris Wilson’s been up to since leaving Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games in 2023, we finally have an answer. He’s been founding another studio.
As discovered by MassivelyOP, Wilson has founded a studio named Light Pattern. There’s really much in the way of information about the studio in question or what we can expect from it. In fact, the studio website only boasts a logo and a sentence-long description that mentions an “unannounced project”. The rest of the page is dedicated to a job listing seeking an art director.
Wilson’s personal site doesn’t really offer anything either, just mentioning that he founded the studio in 2025 and would be working on the previously mentioned project “with a very small team”.
Of course, we’re all free to make guesses about what we can expect out of Light Pattern. As MassivelyOP pointed out, thanks to his time at Grinding Gear Games, a new ARPG wouldn’t be too wild a guess. Although it’s possible he wants to dabble in something new. Though it seems likely it will be something online. It’s also likely that whatever the project is will be a free-to-play offering, since he’s seen success in that arena before.
