Guild Wars 2's End Of Dragons Expansion Launching February 28
Ride skiffs and mount siege turtles and unravel "the oldest enigmas around Tyria's elder dragons."
After months of waiting and at least one delay, Guild Wars 2's End of Dragons expansion is coming this month -- and it finally has a launch date.
The third expansion for ArenaNet's MMORPG will launch on February 28, bringing Tyrians to the land of Cantha that first appeared in the original Guild Wars: Factions expansion. Cantha has been "shrouded in secrecy and intrigue for more than 200 years" and players will uncover those secrets, which revolve around a mysterious and powerful substance called dragonjade that has led to a revolution in Canthan civilization.
End of Dragons adds a new way to traverse the waterways of Tyria, in the form of fishing skiffs, where groups of up to five players can hang out and cast their lines to land big catches. The expansion also adds the game's first dual-player and combat mount, the siege turtle, as well as another nine elite specializations, one for each profession.
And, as you'd expect from the expansion's name, its story will "shine a light on some of the oldest enigmans around Tyria's elder dragons." Elder dragons have been the driving force behind the game for its nearly decade-long existance, so if this expansion truly does mark the "end of dragons," then who will be the next big bads? My money's on skritt.
