Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure First Content Update "Through the Veil" Brings New Group Content "Convergences"
Players will confront the Kryptis on their native grounds, experiencing fresh encounters and earning new rewards.
Guild Wars 2's latest expansion, Secrets of the Obscure, is set to receive its first post-launch content update.
"Through the Veil" releases on November 7. This update to the MMORPG will be available for free to all players who have purchased the expansion. It introduces a new map, activities, and encounters as players embark on a mission to confront the demonic Kryptis within Nayos, the Realm of Dreams.
One of the key features in this update is the Inner Nayos map, offering a new exploration space within the Kryptis realm. Players will also gain access to a new mastery track related to an encounter type called Convergences. These large-scale rifts in an arena setting will provide challenges for groups of up to 50 players as they face the Kryptis forces.
The seasonal Wizard's Vault will be updated with new rewards too, including unique armor pieces and a new infusion. Additionally, a Legacy Rewards tab will be introduced to preserve exclusive cosmetic rewards from previous seasons. The update brings obtainable relics for character builds as well, and a more challenging mode for the Cosmic Observatory strike mission.
Secrets of the Obscure will continue to offer additional content without extra charges into 2024, and on November 28, players will have an opportunity to test a new weapon for their chosen profession and provide feedback as part of a special beta event — allowing them to preview the upcoming expanded weapon proficiencies feature. This event is scheduled to run until December 3.
