Now Live: New 4v4 Game Mode "Cobalt Protocol" Shakes Things Up In MOBA Eternal Return
Later this month, a streamer competition will showcase the new game mode.
Developer Nimble Neuron has announced the launch of "Cobalt Protocol," a new 4v4 PvP game mode included with Eternal Return's Season 6: Beachside Splash. In partnership with Global Esports organization Gen.G, 32 content creators will participate in a Cobalt Protocol Streamer Invitational on June 26 to showcase the game mode and win prizes for their community.
The MOBA game is revving up a lot of excitement for its Cobalt Protocol mode, which plans to be a "fun way for new players to get to know the characters of Lumia Island while also allowing veterans of Eternal Return to perfect their fighting skills." The objective of Cobalt Protocol if for each side to reduce the enemy team's Life Score by slaying enemies - Omega and Gamma - and capturing Power Beacons.
Starting from Phase 1, players will be "separated into two 2v2 groups in restricted areas on the left and right ends of the map." But in Phase 2, the Sector Roadblocks that separated the groups will be removed. Players will continuously respawn until one team's Life Score hits zero. Patch notes on the new game mode are now available.
Following the big reveal, Nimble Neuron and Gen.G are hosting the Cobalt Protocol Streamer Invitational on June 26. They plan to invite 32 streamers from North America who will form up teams of four, each one with two North American streamers and two Eternal Return Partners. Then, every team will split into two groups of eight, and as matches progress, the top three from each section will move onto the Single Elimination Playoffs. Winners of the streamer invitational will receive prizes to give to their communities. CRO Martin Kim of Gen.G spoke more on their partnership with Nimble Neuron and the streamer invitational through an announcement:
"This invitational will serve as a catalyst for things to come within our partnership with Nimble Neuron and we hope fans enjoy the latest update and new game mode...As we continue to help foster communities of new and returning players to Eternal Return, we want to make sure that as these players come in, they are immediately engaged and have a reason to stay."
