Amazon Games dropped an update for New World on Twitter today that revealed the highly-anticipated "Brimstone Sands" update (currently on PTR) is going live on October 18, but before that day rolls around, players can rack up levels during a 1.5x Character XP event, running between October 5 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time until October 17 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

Brimstone Sands will debut a new zone 3x the size of anything else in the game, a strength/dexterity greatsword weapon, and a revamped player onboarding experience. Amazon expects the player population will get considerably big when the update launches and has added new servers to beat extended login queues beforehand. Moreover, the release announcement comes days after the game's first birthday, so things are certainly ramping up across the board as excitement seems to be riding on the success of the Brimstone Sands update.

The XP event will also modify any existing rested XP, which the devs point out now is "the best time to jump in" New World and gain levels. The upcoming content will be level 60-focused, giving you an idea of where you're shooting if you'll be participating in the Character XP event.

As the Brimstone Sands release gets closer, we'll keep you updated on any fresh news out of New World.
