Riot Games Announces New President Who Has A Bit Of An Esports Background
Hoby Darling has worked for brands like Logitech and Astro Gaming.
Riot Games posted an announcement that will really only matter to those of you who are into the business side of gaming. For everyone else, it will probably only come into play if you play Riot’s games and attend events. Or if something goes wrong...
You’ve got it. Riot announced a new executive staff change. More specifically, they announced a new president, Hoby Darling. If you don’t recognize his name right away, don’t worry. He has a long history of senior leadership roles at various companies, but his focus is less on video games specifically, and more tangentially related. Companies he’s worked for include Logitech, Astro Gaming, Nike, and Volcom.
As Riot is the developer of a popular esports game, the MOBA League of Legends, bringing someone who has worked for sports brands makes a certain amount of sense. His experience in branding will likely be helpful as well.
"The first time I walked into Riot, I felt a scrappy, soulful, and courageous energy I knew I needed to be a part of. I’ve worked with a lot of companies, and there’s something special about a place that takes risks, challenges convention, and stays fiercely committed to its mission. Riot has a long history of creating experiences that truly matter to players, and I couldn’t be more excited to work alongside passionate Rioters who push each other to do their best work every day,” says Darling.
Now...about that MMO...
