RuneScape Introducing New Battle Pass System, Reaction Is About What You'd Expect
The Hero Pass is more or less what it sounds like.

What’s a video game without a battle pass these days? Rare… That’s what it is. Yesterday, Jagex announced a new battle pass system for RuneScape. It’s pretty much what you expect. Do stuff in the MMORPG, earn points, keep earning points, get stuff as you rank up through the pass. There are two tracks, one paid and one not, and there are special activities you can do to contribute to the pass that will speed up the process.
The pass will exist on a three-month cycle. That means players can expect four per year. Which, means a rather solid rotation of rewards.
Reaction to the announcement is probably also just about what you might expect. Players don’t seem excited by it. Some are worried about the company adding pay-to-win element through the feature. The interesting thing, however, is that while players are complaining, at least some of them are being very careful to not take it out on the devs, instead assuming that the addition of this feature is a call of someone higher up rather than those who actually spend time developing the game.

That aside, the fact remains the same. Response is not good.
