Where Winds Meet Game Awards Trailer

If you’ve been waiting on new stuff to do in Where Winds Meet… First of all, who are you, and where do you find the time? Do you not play other games? I’m still trying to get everything from the action RPG’s launch done, and here we are with not only a video teaser at The Game Awards for “The Imperial Palace” expansion, but the devs dropped the version 1.1 update, “Timeless Bonds,” last night.

Okay, it may just be a me problem, and I may actually play too many games.

The teaser video really is just that. It lasts about a minute and shows footage we’ve already seen in-game and some cool scenes from the future before giving us the expansion’s title and a 2026 release date. The expansion could drop any time in 2026, really, seeing as we just got the version 1.1 update today. We’ll just have to wait and see.

As for the update itself, version 1.1 expands on Kaifeng by adding a new map, “Roaring Sands”. This means that all of Kaifeng has been unlocked and is now available to explore. That means more dungeons, caves, puzzles, and treasure to be looted. It also means new bosses, such as the world boss, Feng Ruzhi. There’s a new-ish sect as well. We’ve heard about this one before, but haven’t been able to join it until now, Velvet Shade. So, if you’re into espionage, there’s something for you.

Of course, the game’s story also progresses, with the introduction of a new campaign titled “River Master”. Players will need to travel to the Roaring Sands to unlock this. New gameplay and a new Taiping Mausoleum challenge have been introduced as well. Details on these and other additions in the update are available in the patch notes on the Where Winds Meet site.
