Win Thousands Of Dollars In Prizes And Maybe A Tesla In Core's Next Invitational Game Jam
Core, the platform that lets gamers create their own games, is running some special competitive events beginning today. The first, and bigger of the two events, is the Core Invitational Game Jam. The Core Invitational rewards individuals (and teams) for their game development and modding skills with cash and prizes, including a Tesla Model 3.
Manticore Games is currently accepting applications from experienced game devs, modders, and UGC specialists. Don't worry, you don't have to be versed in Core. In fact, the press release specifically mentions Roblox creators and Fortnite Creative developers in the list of possible participants.
Everyone who participates and submits a valid entry will be rewarded in several ways. First, they'll receive $1000 for their submission. This excludes Category and Special Award winners... because, well there's actual prizes to be had there. All participants will have access to the virtual Fast Track training Manticore Games has created to get devs up and running quickly in Core. Once those games are completed, they can be monetized.
Of course, there are also prizes to be had, including that Tesla. They're as follows:
Categories:
- Best Overall: Tesla Model 3 (or cash equivalent of $45,000 if the winner is based outside of the continental U.S)
- Best Tycoon/Simulation Game: $10,000
- Best RPG: $10,000
- Best Genre Mash-Up: $10,000
- Best Game Remaster: $10,000
Special Awards:
- Best Trailer/Machinima: $3,000
- Most Aesthetic: $3,000
- Most Innovative: $3,000
- Best New Creator (1): $3,000
- Best New Core Creator (2): $3,000
If this is something you're interested in doing at some point in the future but don't feel equipped to do just yet, Manitcore also announced the Core Game Creator Bootcamps. These will start this summer and consist of a three-week online program to teach creatives how to create a successful online game.
As for the other event, the Honey Magnate Battles kicked off today and runs through July 1 and consists of 7 factions, each hosted by a YouTuber. Players can join a faction by going to the event zone in Core, after which they'll need to harvest 'Like' icons, earning in-game rewards as well as a chance at their share of the prize pool.
At the end of the tournament, the top three players in the winning faction will win $1000 for first place, $750 for second, and $500 for third place. The top three players in the runner-up factions (any of the factions that didn't win) will receive $500, $300, and $150, for first through third respectively.
All participants will receive a special in-game pet.
