What’s this? A new fighting game that’s Free-to-Play? And from the creators responsible for Soul Calibur and Tekken! Yes, it looks like there’s plenty of reasons for players to get a rise out of Rise of Incarnates, Bandai Namco’s new PC exclusive 2v2 fighter which pits super-powered “Incarnates” against each other surrounded by ruined cityscapes they probably helped create.

From the trailer we can see a small taste of gameplay, with characters who may or may not be the protagonist from Prototype and a scythe wielding Dr. Wily. Like most fighters, the characters in Rise of Incarnates posses their own unique skills and powers, giving each their own signature fighting style. But with gameplay focusing on 2v2, these characters will also feature specific roles which will play into the team strategy.

Interestingly, it appears Rise of Nations is Namco’s attempt to bring their Japan exclusive (and very popular) “Gundam VS” series to the west under a new IP as both games feature extremely similar gameplay. Namco has been hesitant to release the Gundam VS series in the West for unknown reasons, with some claiming the studio doesn’t believe the West is as receptive to the franchise. Unfortunate, since I’m pretty sure there’s never a time when giant robots aren’t the right choice.

In any case, what little gameplay was showcased looked fairly promising. Players can already signup for a chance to join in on the alpha test with a scheduled release set for the latter part of this year.

  1. Ah the Gundam Vs series are all so awesome, played a lot of their series and if this new game is similar then I’ll definitely give it a shot

  2. after i played one piece pirate warriors 1 and 2 i feel like i can trust bandai for games like this GO BANDAI GO WOHOO

    • Hopefully they put a bit more effort into this game. Hopefully they have learned something from SC: Lost Swords because that still isn’t playable.

  3. Bad enough this site leaks out select 2 day old news. But changing the article titles to gibberish is a double insult. Seriously… Stop. Wombo combo?

  4. Ooo. Should deem interesting. Look forward to see how this goes. Unfortunately Soul Calibur F2P has had a well… well its been a bad start. Last I tried you couldn’t connect to the game server so no one has been able to play since it officially launched. Hopefully they get that fixed soon.
