Yoshi-P Teases Patch 6.5 Content In Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter 78
And we do mean tease…
Today, as part of the 2023 Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Las Vegas, Yoshi-P hosted the 78th Letter from the Producer Live. This Live Letter, like all the ones in the recent past, was the first of two for the game’s upcoming patch. The game’s next major patch, 6.5, is titled Growing Light. It continues the MSQ and Zero’s story, taking her to The First.
At the beginning of the Live Letter, Yoshi-P gave an approximate timeline for the Patch 6.5 and 6.55 drops. If all goes to plan, Patch 6.5 will drop in Early October. Patch 6.55 should arrive in mid-January of 2024 (and bring with it the second half of the Patch 6.5x MSQ content). In between those, players can expect Patch 6.51 sometime in October.
From there Yoshi-P went on to discuss the contents of the Patch. Really, he mostly teased it. He even shared some screenshots – all intentionally vague and not actually showing us anything about the content. Well, for the most part.
As mentioned, Yoshi-P revealed that the new MSQ will take players back to the first. And somehow, the Warriors of Light manage to bring company this time. (We’re sure Y’shtola has something to do with it.) Patch 6.5 will also add Endwalker Tribal Alliance quests, and continue Tataru’s Grand Endeavor. No, we don’t know what you’ll be doing in either. But, we do know that to do the Alliance Tribal Quests, you’ll need to have completed the Arkasodara, Omicron, and Loporrit quests. Players can expect the next crafting relic in 6.51 and the Hilibrand Adventure Quests and Manderville Weapons in 6.55.
Also teased was a new dungeon – The Lunar Subterrane. We’re headed to underground on the moon – most likely the Thirteenth’s moon. Other battle content includes a new Trial – The Abyssal Fracture, a new Unreal Trial – the Thordon fight, and the last of the Myths of the Realm Alliance Raids.
Patch 6.5 will also add the final Duty Support dungeons: Drowned City of Skalla, The Burn, and Ghimlyt Dark. That means all the MSQ dungeons are complete.
It may seem a little soon for it, but we’re also getting new Variant and Criterion Dungeons. This time, players will be helping out Matsya. That was that Akasadora Fishmonger from so long ago.
On the PvP front, Season changes will be a bit off schedule due to the championships taking place at the various Fan Festivals. So, Expect Season 8 to begin on patch 6.48 and end on 6.51. Crystalline Conflict fans can expect a new arena as well as mini-map and UI adjustments based on player feedback.
Island Sanctuary will be getting new content. There will be new ranks and visions, a new gathering area in the Wilds, new materials, craftable items, crops, animals, isleworks handicrafts, and structures. If you wanted a pet Morbol, you’re in luck. A new feature is being added as well, Felicitous Favors. These are unlocked by completing the Patch 6.5 Sanctuary progression, at which point a series of quests will be available from the Felicitous Furball for handicraft production. Shipping these handicrafts earns players special tokens that can be traded for exclusive rewards.
