Looking For A Good Way To Relive Those Epic Moments In Your Favorite MMO?

One of the worst things about playing live service games is that it can be really difficult to go back and relive those moments that pulled you in in the first place. Sure, some games have something like a New Game+ option, or you can create a new character and start all over. But for a lot of games, this isn’t the case. Once you’ve completed that part of the story and have moved on, you’re not coming back to it. I’m not going to get that first-time experience of having Welt bonk me on the head with his cane in Honkai: Star Rail again – at least, not without creating a whole new account. But even then, there won’t be the surprise like there was the first time.

So what are your options? Well, of course, there’s just finding the cutscenes online and watching those. But that doesn’t really get you close to the feeling you had when you first experienced that part of the game, particularly since they may not include the non-cinematic content that’s part of the experience. You might as well just create a new account and do it all over again.

That being said, there is the option of just watching a YouTuber play through for the first time, and that can be pretty fun. A buddy and I often do that, but it’s usually something like those YouTubers that watch all the opening cinematic trailers for Final Fantasy XIV for the first time. So, it falls into that “It’s fun to see what this random person thinks about something I’m invested in” kind of thing. And, of course, you have to find a streamer you’re willing to sit and watch for an extended period of time.

But, if you really, really want the closest experience you can get to reliving the moments, get a friend who hasn’t played the game before to try it. No, seriously. Because then you can get them to stream it to you via Discord, and since they’re people you know, you’ll know when their surprise is genuine. Or their sadness, etc. Yeah. You still know what’s coming, but it’s the best way to get close to the feeling you had when you didn’t know what was going to happen.

The other benefit of this is that you get to spend time sharing something you enjoy with a friend, even if part of that is making them suffer for your entertainment. Because let’s face it. These are MMOs, and there will be suffering.
