Amazon Delays New World Server Merges After Service Outage
Luckily, it’s a short delay...unless something else happens.
Amazon is going ahead with the much-needed server merges in New World but it seems there’s going to be a short delay. The company had intended to do the merges Thursday morning, but after suffering a service outage, they’ve decided to push it back a day, so they’ll be merging Vanaheim Terra and Nibiru tomorrow – according to a forum post from one of the devs. They did note that this was to their knowledge and that players should wait for a CM post to be sure they have all the correct information.
Of course, yesterday’s outage also meant that New World players simply couldn’t play for a while, but it seems they got the issue under control fairly quickly, compared to the length of time it’s taken to handle some other issues with the game. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong between now and Friday and the merges can happen without too much grief.
For their part, the players seem to be taking everything reasonably well, other than requesting more transfer tokens. But that is apparently having to wait until after the merges happen. If a player still has their first token, they can use it during the upcoming merges.
