Dauntless Will Use Halo 2 Matchmaking As Inspiration For Group Finder
What's even sexier than server stability? User interfaces, that's what! That's the topic of today's Dauntless dev blog, in which a game launching in 2018 takes cues from a feature from 2004.
The recent Evolving Wilds update added weapon-specific special meters to help Slayers know just what kind of special powers they had at their fingertips. But even more than fighting, players of any MMO spend the bulk of their time finding players to fight with, so Phoenix Labs is "organizing social and party features to be as readily accessible as possible." The developers' inspiration? Halo 2's "social matchmaking system that is widely recognized by scholars as humanity’s greatest achievement." And I thought that was sliced bread.
Phoenix Labs also announced that full controller support would be online for open beta, as well as implementing several highly requested UI features, such as buff/debuff icons, rebindable keys, and color-blind support. Learn about all the upcoming UI goodness on the Dauntless site.
