Genshin Impact Developer Cracks Down On Leakers, Issuing Subpoenas To Twitter
It's no guarantee that they get anything through this method, yet.
Genshin Impact has never been a stranger to data leaks. In fact, the accounts on Twitter that are focused on such content are extremely popular, allowing players to plan their wishes accordingly in order to get the characters they want and, maybe, not spend too much money in the process. While these leaks can be a positive thing for the player, HoYoverse, Genshin Impact’s developer, is far from happy.
In fact, at the request of HoYoverse’s Cognosphere division, a California court has subpoenaed Twitter in the hopes to reveal the identities of the people behind three popular Genshin Impact leak accounts. The three accounts in question are Merlin Impact, XWides, and Genshin World–although Genshin World’s account seems to now be inactive. Cognoshpere had even asked Twitter to delete multiple tweets from each account under the dispute that the content was copyrighted content and went against Twitter’s TOS, however, the tweets in question remain.

The legal documents ask that Twitter hand over a range of high-security information about each account, including the telephone numbers, emails, names of the leakers, and even their IP and real-world addresses.
What do you think? Is HoYoverse’s NDA too strict, should leak accounts be allowed to let players prepare for character banners and upcoming content? Or, are NDAs in place for a reason and should be respected? Please feel free to tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
