Infantry Combat Is Coming In War Thunder’s “Line Of Contact” Update
It’s all boots on the ground in the new mode.

There’s a new mode coming to Gaijin Entertainment’s War Thunder later this month that will make war… well… more warlike. The game’s upcoming “Line of Contact” update will kick off closed testing for a mode focusing on infantry combat. It won’t be all boots on the ground as the vehicles players are familiar with will be there too. In fact, it will even introduce new vehicles to the war strategy game. But it will shake things up a bit.
The new mode was announced back in April along with the 2026 testing schedule. During the tests, players will be able to fight as either the USA or USSR/Russia using pre-installed sets of weapons and gear, as well as specific vehicles. These battles will take place on maps created specifically for the mode.
As for the rest of the update, players can expect new maps and “dozens of new vehicles” as well as general improvements for the game. Details on how to access the closed beta test will be provided via the War Thunder site in the near future.
