GAMESCOM 2022: Lightfall Expansion Release Date Announced At Destiny 2 Showcase
Plus, King’s Fall is back, a new season, and more.
Today, Bungie hosted the 2022 Destiny 2 Showcase, offering players a look at things to come and making a series of big announcements. Of course, the one thing everyone wants to know is when the game’s next expansion, Lightfall, is due to release. There’s a date for that now – February 28, 2023. That’s a bit off, but players should be good until then as there’s other content on the way, and it means they have time to take advantage of the pre-order.
For instance, the next Season – Season of Plunder, launched today. It will run through December 6, during which time players can experience the Sail by Starlight story content and try to stop Eramis from getting her hands on lost relics. It’s time for a round of piracy and a little ship-to-ship combat while you’re at it.
For those who spent time in the original Destiny, there’s good news, King’s Fall is back. The King’s Fall Reprised Raid launches later this week. At the same time they announced this, Bungie announced that they will no longer be retiring content.
In addition to all the content reveals, Bungie also announced that the game is now available on the Epic Games Store. To celebrate this, Destiny 2 content has been added to both Fortnite and Fall Guys, while Fortnite-themed ornaments are available in Destiny 2. Those who download the game from the EGS before August 30 will also receive the Destiny 2: 30th Anniversary Event pack for free.
