Modders Are Giving Team Fortress 2 A Facelift With The Engine Used For Half-Life: Alyx

Team Fortress 2 has been around for about 14 years now, and while it's really not suffering visually like a lot of games that age do, thanks to the art style, it could probably use a little sprucing up. That appears to be the opinion of some modders, anyway, who have taken it upon themselves to remake Team Fortress 2 using the Source 2 engine used for one of Valve's other titles, Half-Life: Alyx. The goal is to take something they have a great fondness for, because of its "gameplay, story, its unique cast of characters and environments" and improve on the experience by improving on the visuals.

The idea came about, according to an article on Gameinformer, when s&box -- who are working on a sequel to Garry's Mod -- began making access to Source 2 public. From there, the modders creating Team Fortress S2 (as they're calling it) began to think about how the shooter would look in the Source 2 engine.

It'll be interesting to see how Valve feels about this new project -- although, knowing them, they'll just end up hiring the group at some point anyway. Hey, maybe they'll finally drop a Something 3. Anything 3 would be good. Really.

If you're a TF2 fan, and are interested in the remake project, it does have an official website you can check out.

Problem is, TF2 doesn't need improved lights, flame effects, bullet-holes (especially made by spade), because it's a cartoony game and characters will stay cartoony...thus it looks out of place.

Would've been better if that person made his own Team Fortress 3 using latest source engine (from Alyx) with new models, weapons, remodeled maps to utilize all graphical features of engine... and either proposed it to valve or released f2p
