No More Training Wheels And You're Not Restricted To One Zone In Stars Reach's Testing Plans
It's still pre-alpha, but that doesn't mean things can't expand to be more MMO-like.
Stars Reach continues its inexorable march towards becoming a fully released MMORPG. It may not be coming fast enough for some of us, but it's coming. New tests keep taking things further and further and the team continues to try new things like our recent look at exploration and if that alone could be a viable playstyle in the genre.
Now it's time for another step forward. Testers are graduating from a single zone to multiple zones and the "training wheels are coming off" according to the latest news from Playable Worlds.
The preview of upcoming tests paints the picture of...well...more of a game. Players will be starting out with basic equipment and working their way through tasks, gaining experience, building bigger and better things, and eventually taking off for the stars.
Part 1 of the upcoming tests add in Harvester and basic Botany skill trees, Ranger skill tree access (which we previously covered and players apparently enjoyed), a requirement that you build your own grapple (it's previously just been supplied), and more.
We're getting there, folks, just be patient.
