Rising Generals Open Beta Launches Exclusively in the US
Innogames, developers of Forge of Empires, has decided to roll out the Open Beta for their latest free-to-play, browser based game, Rising Generals, exclusively in the United States. While the strategy game will eventually see a worldwide release, Innogames decided to hop over the pond and launch the US first to stress the importance of the US market in their game's long term success.
In Rising Generals, players command a military base which needs to be quickly upgraded and staffed with troops in order to defend itself against and attack hostile neighbors. Unlockable technologies as well as officers provide helpful bonuses and perks. Aimed at triggering instant action, Rising Generals progresses at a significantly higher speed than other online strategy games. This is in large part due to a bit of a different cooldown mechanic than we typically see in strategy games.
We're all pretty familiar with games in this genre that have build timers. Click on a barracks and 4 minutes later you'll have it. Rising Generals does something slightly different. In Rising Generals, the barracks is available instantly, but there's a cooldown before you can build your next barracks. This makes units immediately available for Rising Generals' "rock-paper-scissors" combat right after being built.
If you're in the US you can check out the game now by visiting the official site. Eventually, Rising Generals aims to have a cross platform, global launch. Let us know what you think and what the cash shop looks like below!
