RuneScape Hero Pass Adjustments

RuneScape players still aren’t really happy about the addition of the Hero Pass to the MMORPG, but that’s not going to stop Jagex from pushing ahead with it. The news – whether you consider it good or bad – is that the developer is making changes to the pass system and is looking for player feedback on it. They’ve already announced some adjustments to address the complaints players have about how much time it takes to accumulate points and hit the daily 120, reducing the number of points required as well as the amount of time.

As noted, that’s where Jagex is starting. The developer also announced the Hero Pass Community Consultation process. According to the post, the focus is to gather “detailed feedback” while sharing their thoughts with players and exploring options. The whole thing is a three-stage process, which is detailed on the game’s site. It basically boils down to the fixes mentioned above in phase one, consulting with the community in phase two, and reviewing everything and deciding how to move forward in phase 3.

If we were to describe the community reaction to this so far, it seems like a mixture between hopeful and just straight-up grumpy. Most of it seems to fall on the grumpy side. Players are pointing out that no one asked for a hero pass. Others feel that the devs just won’t follow the feedback given. And yet others point out that, so far, the whole thing is still too heavily focused on daily logins. (Let’s be honest, half the point of passes of any kind is to get players to log in on a near-daily basis.)
