Star Trek Online’s Scariest Story Returns For Friday The 13th
The Hearts and Minds mission explores what happens when science goes wrong.

Friday the 13th has snuck up on us again. (Seriously, I didn’t realize it was happening until looking at the date for The Games Awards a couple of days ago.) It’s not really a holiday, but it is something you can have a little fun with if you think ahead. That’s just what the Star Trek Online team did. Today, the developers announced the return of the Hearts and Mirrors mini-mission to the MMORPG.
For those who have yet to experience this particular bit of content, it’s a limited time horror story that “explores the consequences of some unconventional research gone awry”. This isn’t new territory for Star Trek. They’ve been doing that since The Original Series, but it’s a good way to have a bit of fun and earn a reward at the same time.
Hearts and Mirrors is designed as a “story in one act”, allowing players to do it all in one sitting. It’s also something that players can do on multiple characters if they choose to do so. Even those who have done it before can run through it again and earn a copy of the reward.
If you’re the squeamish type, don’t worry. Hearts and Mirrors isn’t about the gore. It’s just meant to be creepy.
The event is live as of today, and is more or less a weekend affair, ending on December 17.
