Albion Online Has Plans To Get More People Involved In GvG
Albion Online Game Director Robin Henkys addressed fans yesterday to give them a heads-up on what's coming in the next season of GvG battles, as well as the roadmap for the game following its Percival update, which went live earlier this month.
As Henkys puts it, the dev team at Sandbox Interactive had two primary goals for GvG. One was to allow more players to contribute to their guild's success through a wider range of activities. To meet that goal, the team implemented guild challenges, similar to adventurer challenges but for guilds.
The second goal was to limit the power of a few guilds to dominate the season. To achieve that, the team will implement castle outposts, which are essentially smaller castles that medium-sized guilds can compete for. Castle fight times are also getting a rebalance, down from 45 to "10 minutes or so," which requires big guilds to spread out and defend all over the map rather than zerging up and steamrolling everything.
As for the future of the game, Henkys thinks "there will be a lot of changes needed" to make the Outlands a "fun and rewarding" place to live. As such, changes to that region will be broken up into multiple updates, with the next update introducing some of the changes to serve as a kind of test.
