Europe Is Getting A New Game Company, Courtesy Of Former Blizzard Staff And Staff From Other Big Gaming Companies
The new company is headed by Activision Blizzard’s former senior VP of International.
There’s a new game company in the neighborhood, although it features a lot of familiar faces. (Also, the neighborhood is Paris, France.) New Tales is a new publisher that will focus on original IPs formed by former Activision Blizzard alumni who were among those laid off in 2020. Among those in New Tales’ ranks is Cédric Maréchal, Activision Blizzard’s former senior VP of International. He has taken on the role of CEO. Other members of the team are COO Benoit Dufour (former Acti-Blizz VP of international operations), Delphine Le Corre (former Acti-Blizz senior director EMEA), and Emmanuel Obert (former Acti-Blizz EMEA director).
The new company is also receiving support from former Overwatch Production Director Julia Humphreys, former Global Chief Development Officer at Blizzard, now co-founder of Blue Silver Studios, Ray Gresko, and Kim Gresko – also co-founder of Blue Silver Studios as well as a former composite artist at LucasArts. Of course, this means they have a very strong lineup going in.
As a publisher, New Tales plans to concentrate on original titles created in its own studios while providing publishing services to other developers. Considering the team’s experience in the marketing and localization of games, this could be very beneficial to smaller companies looking for someone to help them get their games out there to a wider audience.
