Genshin Impact’s Latest Lore Drop Offers Players a Look At Characters We’ve Only Heard About In Passing
Everyone’s gathering in Nod-Krai.
We may not actually be at the climax of Genshin Impact’s story. But it’s sure starting to feel like we’re getting there. Lately, HoYoverse has been dropping all kinds of lore teasers for the next chapter of the action RPG, which will take us to Nod-Krai, a region in southern Snezhnaya – the last of the seven primary nations of Teyvat and home to… well… one set of our enemies. It’s not like we don’t have to deal with that whole our sibling and the Abyss Order trying to bring back Khaenri’ah thing, still. That will probably be the true climax.
That said, the upcoming version is apparently where a lot of the strings we’ve been pulling at for five years will be coming together, as HoYo is busy formally introducing characters we’ve only heard about before. Or, perhaps that we’ve heard from, but never seen. (Looking at you, Alice.)
The latest drop gives us not only a look at Klee’s mom and another member of the Hexenzirkel, Nicole Reeyn, but also a Mondstadtian whose name has been dropped so many times, the true Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius, Varka. The teaser also introduces yet another Fatui Harbinger, Sandrone, who, as her codename, “Marionette,” implies, appears to be some kind of wind-up doll.
All-in-all, HoYo’s most recent drop introduces eleven characters (Although, technically, human-Durin was introduced during the Mondstadt trial storyline) and makes note of some familiar faces who have also apparently made their way to Nod-Krai – specifically, Albedo and the Wanderer.
As Varka says in the video, he’s there for the moon. (Although, in the subtitles, "Mondstadt" is in parentheses.) And so is everyone else, in one way or another. Whether we’ll be on the same side or not is probably up for question. After all, everyone has their own goals. Whatever the case, Genshin players are definitely in for a time.
