HoYoverse Announces End Of PlayStation Support For Genshin Impact
The game has outgrown the platform.
Unfortunately, we have some bad news for Genshin Impact players who have been playing the game on PlayStation 4. HoYoverse announced that, beginning September 10, support for the action RPG on the console will cease. According to the announcement on the HoYolab forums, the decision was made “due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size”. Put simply, the game is becoming too much for the console.
Rather than just ceasing support in one go, HoYo has planned things out in three phases. The first, Game Removal, involves removing the game from the PlayStation store, meaning that anyone on the PS4 who hasn’t downloaded the game before this point won’t be able to. Following that, on February 25, 2026, in-game purchases will be removed from the PlayStation Store and in-game shop. Players who have bought items but haven’t claimed them by this point still can.
Finally, update support will end on April 8, 2026, and players will no longer be able to log into the game on PS4. Of course, players can log into the game on other platforms and continue playing.
