Black Desert Online Next Gen Consoles

If you play or have any interest in the console versions of Black Desert Online, you’re definitely going to want to take a peek at a letter on the site from the head of the game’s design department, Je-seok Jang. The letter outlines a roadmap for the rest of the year, beginning with the Manos Gear update this month and ending with the addition of O’dylitta and the Fallen God’s Armor in December. It also outlines a number of quality of life changes.

Everything in the roadmap is something that players can expect this year, but the letter did include one other tidbit – for those of you hoping to see the game on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. As it turns out, the devs hadn’t really intended to work on this right away due to wanting to focus on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for a while. However, since players have apparently been begging for it, they’ve decided to go ahead with next-gen development anyway.

That’s the good news. The less exciting news is that it’s going to be a while before players see the fruits of those labors. A wait time has not been specified. There is one other bit of good news, however. When the work on the next-gen version is finished, they will be rolled out to those already playing on the earlier consoles for free. If you’re still not planning to upgrade for a while, don’t worry. They still intend to keep working on improving the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, as well.
