RuneScape’s 24-Year Desert Saga Reaches Its Epic Finale Today
“Eclipse of the Heart” has players take on the Goddess of Destruction in the Kharidian Desert.
RuneScape released “Eclipse of the Heart” today, July 28 — the finale of a storyline that has been unfolding for 24 years.
This quest for the free-to-play MMORPG brings closure to the Desert series, a narrative arc that began with rescuing Prince Ali and grew into a saga of gods, betrayal, and ancient prophecy rooted deep in the Kharidian Desert. Originally appearing in 1999 in Andrew Gower’s DeviousMUD, the location was added to RuneScape Classic in 2001. The region now sets the stage for the final battle against the Goddess of Destruction, Amascut.
To begin the quest, players must ascend the steps of the Golden Palace and speak to Pharaoh Leela. They must have completed "Pharaoh’s Folly," reached Level 90 in Necromancy, Level 65 in Agility, and finished over 50 quests. As Menaphos faces a total eclipse, players must rally allies — both mortal and divine — to prevent its fall.
Also, later on August 4, the full Boss version of Amascut, Goddess of Destruction, will be available to challenge.
