NC Soft Confirms Throne And Liberty Delay During Q1 2023 Earnings Report
Sales are down, and Throne And Liberty delay is confirmed.
NCSoft has reported on its Q1 2023 earnings, and it's mostly down quarter over quarter, and most games are down year over year. Guild Wars 2, Aion, Blade & Soul, and Lineage Mobile saw some slight growth year over year, but overall business is down for NCSoft and its MMORPGs.
Guild Wars 2 shined through a bit with record-high quarterly sales in China since its launch in 2014, driving royalty sales up 9%
Mobile game sales as a whole were reported at KRW 330.8 billion, down 13% QoQ, and total PC game sales declined 12% QoQ to KRW 91.4 billion. I'm sure you are now weeping over NCSoft's losses and their having to settle for a measly 422.2 billion.
Perhaps more interesting to most of us was that during the financial call, NCSoft confirmed the delay of Throne and Liberty, stating that the release has now been moved to the second half of 2023. Reports have been making the rounds for quite some time that Throne and Liberty would be moving to later in the year to avoid the launch window of Diablo IV. While the reasons for the move have not been confirmed nor n exact launch date given, the window has now been officially moved back.
