MapleStory will begin its next inactive character clean-up on September 24, after maintenance. This process is meant to free up character names and optimize server performance, improving the overall gameplay experience for the free-to-play MMORPG. During this period, characters that meet certain conditions will be flagged for deletion. The clean-up will run until November 12, right before maintenance. Any flagged characters that remain inactive past that date will be permanently deleted.

Characters will be flagged if they are Level 61 or lower, have not logged in since September 24, 2022, are not serving as a Guild Leader or Alliance Leader, and do not have unclaimed cash items listed in the Auction House.

Players who wish to preserve their characters must log in to each world where they have flagged characters at least once between September 24 and November 12. This simple login action will remove the deletion flag and ensure the character remains safe.

Nexon encourages players to check their accounts early to avoid losing any characters they may want to keep.
