Once Again, Steam Lists Its Top Selling Games Of The Year
The stats are based on total gross revenue over 2023.
At the end of the year, companies love to tell people how much time and money they’ve spent on things with them. Like Spotify with Wrapped. Steam is no different, and every year they put out a list of their top-selling games based on total gross revenue because everyone likes to know where their money went.
While Steam doesn’t post the actual revenue brought in by each game on the list, they do give players some idea of where things stand by organizing the top 100 games on the site into four categories. This is Platinum: 1st – 12th, Gold: 13th – 24th, Silver 25th – 50th, and Bronze 51st - 100th.
As should be expected from online multiplayer games filled with microtransactions and other ways to take our money across the year, several of the games we cover on this site have made the list. In fact, seven of them take up Platinum slots. These are Apex Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Destiny 2, PUBG Battlegrounds, Call of Duty (Modern Warfare II and III and Warzone), and Lost Ark.
Gold Features a few multiplayer offerings. Included in the list are Dead by Daylight, War Thunder, Warframe, and Naraka: Bladepoint. The list of Silver-ranked games includes Rust, Ark Survival Evolved, Team Fortress 2, Black Desert, The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV, New World, Sea of Thieves, and others.
And of course, there are several in the Bronze list. You probably expected World of Warships to show up somewhere. There it is. Also included are Battlefield 2042, Path of Exile, DayZ, Fallout 76, and others.
Of course, these numbers are only from sales on Steam, so they may or may not be a good metric for figuring out the game’s overall success. Particularly if it’s a game that had its own launcher before being added to Valve’s platform.
